Location
Pingtung is located in the Southern Taiwan Region on the southern coast of Taiwan (Formosa). In 1920, during the Japanese colonial era known as Heitō 屏東街 in Heito Prefecture. In 1933 became a city and was developed with rail yards, warehouses, and factories, radio station and power facilities on Formosa (Taiwan).

Wartime History
Chosu was occupied by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War and the site of rail yards, warehouses, factories, radio station and power facilities. In early 1945, attacked by American aircraft.

Today located at located at Pintung and used as a Taiwan Army paratrooper training range.
