Location
Lat 25° 7' 42N Long 121° 44' 31E  Keelung Bay (Kirun Bay) borders Keelung (Kirun, Jilong) on the northern tip of Formosa (Taiwan). Also known as Keelung Harbor or Kirun Harbor or Kirun Bay. Divided into the "Inner Harbor" near shore and the "Outer Harbor". Offshore bordering the Outer Harbor is Shoryo-to (Shoryo Island), Toban-sho (Toban Island) and Chusonshi-to (Chusonshi Island). During the Japanese occupation of Formosa between 1895–1945 known as Kīrun Harbor (Kīrun Bay). Also spelled Kirun Harbor or Kiirun Bay. Today known as Keelung Harbor (Keelung Bay) or Jilong Harbor (Jilong Bay) in the Northern Taiwan Region in the Republic of China (ROC).

Wartime History
During the Pacific War, used as a shipping port by Japanese merchant vessels and the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). Starting in the middle of October 1944 targeted by U.S. Navy (USN) carrier planes and later land based bombers until the middle of July 1945.
