Location Lat 22° 59' 27N Long 120° 12' 48E Tainan is located at an elevation of 78' / 23m on the southwest coast of Formosa (Taiwan). Also known as Tainan City or T’ai-nan. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of Formosa. Today located in the Southern Taiwan Region in Taiwan in the Republic of China (ROC). Wartime History Tainan was occupied by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War. Starting in early March 1945 attacked by American fighters and bombers until the middle of July 1945.
