Location
Honduras is located in Central America. Officially the Republic of Honduras. Borders Guatemala to the west, El Salvador to the southwest and Nicaragua to the southeast. Borders the Gulf of Fonseca to the south and beyond the Pacific Ocean. To the north borders the Gulf of Honduras and beyond the Caribbean Sea.
Postwar
On July 14, 1969 began the brief Football War (Soccer War, Hundred Hours' War, 100 Hour War) when El Salvador launched an attack against Honduras. During the night of July 18, 1969 a cease fire was negotiated that took full effect on July 20, 1969. Both sides used World War II era fighter aircraft including F4U/FG Corsairs and P-51D Mustangs, T-28 Trojans, AT-6 Texans and C-47 Skytrains that were supplied by U.S. as foreign aid to both nations.
