Location Lat 27° 17' 42N Long 95° 44' 9E Ledo is a small town in the Tinsukia District in Assam State in northeast India. During World War II, Ledo was the eastern most wide gauge railway station in India. Wartime History Ledo was the starting point of the Ledo Road (Stilwell Road). On December 21, 1943 U.S. Army General Stilwell arrives in Ledo to personally take charge of the northern Burma campaign. During the Pacific War, Ledo was used by the U.S. Army and British Army as a staging area and a supply route at "Mile Zero" of the Ledo Road (Stilwell Road) from northeast India via Burma into southern China terminating at Kunming.
