Location Lat 8° 28' 0S Long 118° 43' 0E Bima is located at an elevation of 170' / 51m on the northeast of Sumbawa Island (Soembawa) in the Lesser Sunda Islands (Lesser Sundas). Borders Bima Bay to the west. Today known as Bima City. In Indonesia known as Kota Bima. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today located in West Nusa Tenggara Province (Nusa Tenggara Barat) in Indonesia. Wartime History Occupied by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War. Starting in early November 1944 attacked by U.S. bombers until the middle of May 1945. American missions against Bima Airfield November 5, 1944–May 14, 1945 Bima Airfield (Raba, Sultan Muhammad Salahudin) Located to the south of Bima.
