(20th AF) Mission 198: 26 B-29s attack the Hitachi plant at Chiba.

July 6, 1944
(20th AF) Mission 251: 124 B-29s attack the Chiba urban area destroying 0.86 sq miles (2.23 sq km), 43.4% of the city; 1 other B-29 hits an alternate target. Also, 110 P-51Ds attack airfields in the Tokyo area including Kumagaya, Yamagata, and Chiba.

July 28, 1944
(20th AF) -51s based from Iwo Jima attack a destroyer escort along the Chiba Peninsula, leaving it burning.
