Lat 18° 55' 0S Long 47° 31' 0E Antananarivo is located at an elevation of 4,228' / 1,288m in the center of Madagascar. In French colonial era known as Tananarive or abbreviated as Tana. Today Analamanga Region in the Republic of Madagascar.
Wartime History
On September 23, 1942 the British Army 22nd (East African) Brigade advancing from the west enters Tananarive which has been declared an open city.
