Location
Lat 45° 37′ 0″ N Long 122° 50′ 0″ E Located in central Manchuria. Originally known as Jing'an. In 1914 it was renamed Tao'an.

Wartime History
During the Japanese occupation of Manchuria, known as Paichengtzu or Pai-Ch'eng. The Japanese built a the Paichengtzu-Arshaan rail road line to the northeast to Arshaan. Another line rand northward to Angangchi / Tsitsihar and another southward to Liaoyuan. Another eastward to Hsinking.

Postwar
During 1950 renamed Baicheng 白城 (Mandarin for "white town"). The name Baicheng is from the Mongolian name of the city "Chaghanhot" which also means white town.

Today
Baicheng used to be part of Heilongjiang province, then became a city within Jilin province.
