Painting "Birth of New Philippines" by Hiichiro Kawashima
This painting depicts Japanese Prime Minister Hideki Tojo and his chief of staff meeting with Philippines President Laurel in the Manila Hotel during Tojo's visit to Manila. Postwar, during the U.S. occupation of Japan this painting deemed to be propaganda and was take by the U.S. Army and placed into storage. A black and white photograph was taken for historical purposes. Later the original painting was returned to Japan.
