(FEAF) B-24s attack a naval force of two battleships, five aircraft
carriers, and five destroyers west of Panay; hits are claimed on a battleship
and 2 carriers.
March 1, 1945
(FEAF) Aircraft begin preinvasion bombardment of Zamboanga area of Mindanao plus Panay.
March 17, 1945
(FEAF) B-24 hit Panay beaches in preparatory strikes ahead of the U.S. Army landing scheduled for the next morning.
March 18, 1945
(U.S. Army) Before dawn, the reinforced 40th Division (less the 108th RCT) makes an amphibious landing on beaches on the southeast coast of Panay. On March 15, 1945 they embarked aboard vessels from Task Group 78.3 and arrived off Mindoro the next day and were joined by LCMs from the 542nd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment and proceeded to Panay.
May 6, 1945
(FEAF) Fighter-bombers fly support missions over Panay.
