B-25s and fighter-bombers hit a variety of targets along the New Guinea coast including Karkar Island

(5th AF) Other aircraft carry out similar strikes against Karkar Island

(Australian Army) Landing was made by the 37th/52nd Battalion, from information from Chinese there, it was learned that the Japanese had left some time in March.

(USN & Australian Army) PT boats land Australian Army 5th Division troops on the island at Biu and Kavilo Bays.
