Location
The Baining Mountains are in the center of East New Britain Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Beyond to the northeast is Rabaul. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the New Britain District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today spans two Local Level Goverment (LLG) areas: Inland Baining Rural LLG and Lasul Baining Rural LLG in East New Britain Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
