Location
Lat 10° 25' 0S Long 150° 26' 60E Hilimoi village is located five miles east of Gamadodo on the southern coast of Milne Bay. Site of Hilimoi Mission.

Wartime History
During late 1943, the US Navy, 84th Construction Battalion "Seabees" built a 500 bed hospital, and later expanded to include a recuperation center for 3,000 men. A detachment of the 105th Battalion arrived in January 1944 to assist with the hospital. During October 1945, this hospital was disassembled for shipment to a more forward area.
