Wartime History
During the Pacific War, Lemingi village was occupied by the Japanese Army. Attacked by Allied aircraft during 1944.
October 10, 1944
(USMC) Four Corsiars from VMO-251 strafed Lemingi and huts up and down the coast dropping 500 pound bombs and expending 3,800 rounds of 50 caliber ammunition, results unobserved.
