Location
Lat 4° 51' 38S Long 151° 40' 53E Maitanakunai village is located on the north coast of New Britain bordering Open Bay and the Sai River. Wartime spelling "Maitanakunai". Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the New Britain District in the Territory of New Guinea. During the 1960s, East New Britain Province was created by the Australian Administration.
