Location Lat 9° 22' 60S Long 147° 25' 0E McDonald's Corner is at an elevation of 1669' / 508m. Today located in Central Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Wartime History In 1942, this was the end of the road and start of the walking trail eastward to Ower's Corner and beyond the start of the Kokoda Trail. Nicknamed "McDonald's Corner" in honor of Percy John "P. J." McDonald. Later, the Australian Army built a road suitable for jeeps to this location down to the Goldie River. Soldier Sculpture At this location is a metal sculpture of an Australian solider with memorial plaques.
