Location Lat 4° 22′ S Long 152° 20′ E Rainau is located at an elevation of 184' / 56m inland from the north coast of the Gazelle Peninsula in New Britain. To the north is Ulaveo Plantation. To the northwest is Rapopo and Lesson Point bordering Blanche Bay. To the southwest is Bitapaka (Bita Paka). Between 1884 until September 1914 part of Deutsch Neu Guinea (German New Guinea). Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the New Britain District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in East New Britain Province of Papua New Guinea (PNG). Prewar Rainau Plantation was established at this location planted with coconut palms harvesting copra.
