| Location Lat 10° 13' 0S Long 150° 25' 60E Taupota is located at an elevation of 334' / 101m on the northern coast of the east cape of southeastern on New Guinea. To the south is Milne Bay. The wartime and alternate spelling is Taupota. Today located Wartime History During late September 1942, the Japanese planned to land a group of 290 Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) soldiers and sixty 5th Sasebo Special Naval Landing Force (5th Sasebo SNLF) persoonel at Taupota. Once ashore, they planned to walk southward across the east cape to Milne Bay.
