Location Lat 8° 33' 0S Long 125° 34' 0E Dili Harbor borders Dili on the northern coast of Timor Island. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of Portuguese Timor, a colony of Portugal. Today located in Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (East Timor). Dili is the national capital and the nation's largest city. Wartime History On February 20, 1942 occupied by the Japanese and used as an anchorage and seaplane base.
