Location
Eot Island is a small island in Truk Lagoon in Chuuk State (Truk) in the Federated States of Micronesia. To the northeast of Udot Island.
Wartime History
During the Pacific War, Eot Island four 12cm dual purpose guns (10th year type) emplaced in concrete revetments near the northern shore on a hilltop. The guns had a Type 2 fire director, gun control system, 150cm searchlight and a 40kva generator. Supporting facilities included four warehouse buildings roughly 80' x 45' each near a jetty at the southwest corner of the island. A village was located along the western coast with small buildings.
Defended by Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) personnel from the 41st Naval Guard Force (168 men) and 43rd Naval Guard Force (143 men). The garrison also included engineers and personnel from the 43th Naval Guard Force
and 48th Naval Guard Force.
Later in the war, a suicide boat base was established on the western side of the village and plans were made for a manned torpedo base but were never completed before the war ended.
