Location
Lat 16° 27' 43N Long 107° 35' 44E  Hue is located at an elevation of 26' / 7m above sea level inland from the eastern coast of central Vietnam. In Vietnamese spelled Huế. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of French Indochina (Indo-China). During the Vietnam War located in South Vietnam. Today known as City of Hue located in Thừa Thiên–Huế Province (Thua Thien-Hue Province) in the North Central Coast Region of Vietnam.

Wartime History
During 1941 occupied by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War. During September 1944 until May 1945 attacked by U.S. bombers and fighters.

Vietnam War
The Battle of Huế (Siege of Huế) was the longest battle of the Vietnam War that spanned from January 31, 1968 to March 2, 1968. The battle included Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps against the North Vietnamese People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and the Viet Cong (VC). The battle resulted in a U.S. and South Vietnamese victory.
