This Japanese government Ministry of Health, Labor & Welfare (MHLW) is tasked with veteran affairs and war dead. Every year, they fund missions across the Pacific to locate, recover and usually cremate on site Japanese war dead. Sometimes, remains or artifacts are recovered back to Japan for further identification.
