Emperor Hirohito reading Imperial Rescript on the Termination of the Greater East Asia War
At 11:25pm in a bunker below the Imperial Household Ministry, Emperor Hirohito was recorded onto a phonograph record by NHK sound technicians reading the Imperial Rescript on the Termination of the Greater East Asia War. On August 15, 1945 at noon, after the national anthem Kimigayo, the recording was broadcast over the radio in Japan.
