PNG Museum Aircraft Status Cards
Bruce Hoy Diary References 1978–1988
Background
The PNG Museum Aircraft Status Cards were individual index cards created by Bruce Hoy during his tenure as curator of the Modern History Department (PNG War Museum) of the National Museum and Art Gallery (NMAG) in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The cards primarily listed U.S. aircraft losses and were typed by his wife. Each card listed an individual aircraft type, serial number, crew, sort summary of loss detail and Missing Air Crew Report (MACR) number, if known. Cards were updated with details about discovery or remains recovery efforts with additional typed lines or handwritten notes. This was the first attempt to create a listing of known U.S. losses in PNG as a research tool and to aid Missing In Action (MIA) efforts by U.S. Army CILHI.
After 1988, the cards remained part of the collection of the Modern History Department (PNG War Museum). Over the years, some of the cards have been removed or lost. The below list know PNG Museum Aircraft Status Card. These cards are known as the PNG Museum Aircraft Status Cards or Bruce Hoy Aircraft Status Cards or simply Hoy Cards.
