Portrait of Sgt. John Basilone
This artwork was the cover of Colliers Magazine June 24, 1944 and used for war bond posters. The artwork was later presented to his mother Theodora Basilone. The artwork depicts Sgt. John Basilone on Guadalcanal carrying a water cooled M1917A1 Browning machine gun with three belts of .30 caliber ammunition around his neck.
