Marge met Richard I. Bong at Superior State Teachers College homecoming dance. While the couple were dating, she gave him a a wallet sized print of her yearbook portraint. In the middle of March 1944, this photograph was enlarged an glued and varnished to the nose of P-38J "Marge" 42-103993 assigned to Bong.
