1st Lt. Gabriel J. Eggud in uniform wearing his flight jacket
On July 6, 1944 pilot P-39N "Blazing Blonde" 42-18813 on an armed reconnaissance mission his bomb either exploded prematurely or his plane was too low and caught in the explosion and crashed. When his plane failed to return, Eggud was officially listed as Missing In Action (MIA).
