The left side of the nose has the name "Lt Col. G. R. Johnson" in cursive with a scoreboard (5x5) with Japanese rising sun flags indicating his aerial victory claims against Japanese aircraft. In the center is an Australian flag representing his accidental shoot down of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boomerang A46-136 on November 15, 1943.
