Captain Robert S. Scott in uniform
On July 29, 1943 earned the Medal of Honor defending a hilltop near Munda against a Japanese counterattack alone using his carbine and hand grenades. Although hit in his left hand and had his carbine shot from his hands and a shrapnel wound in his head, he continued to throw grenades and inspired his troops to capture the hilltop.
