Private Private M. Reharin blindfolded and bound moments before being executed by Japanese Navy sailor on the beach at Aitape
This photograph was taken of moments before the execution with the Japanese sailor holding his sword with both hands over Reharin moments before he was decapitated. Gathered behind is a large group of Japanese and locals watching. During late April 1944, a copy of this photograph was captured by U.S. Army.
