George Watson Medal of Honor is displayed at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Museum On
March 8, 1943 helped others after the sinking of s'Jacob. Watson was the first black solider in World War II to earn the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC), posthumously. He also earned the Purple Heart, posthumously. On January 13, 1997 Watson was bestowed the Medal of Honor by President
