Melbourne Tank Museum has closed. During late April 2006, the museum auctioned off items from the collection.

Former Collection

M3 Stuart Tank Hull Number 1246
Australian Army 2/6th Armoured Regiment tank used at Buna. It survived the battle and was returned to Australia.

Daniel Leahy adds:
Click For Enlargement"There were two Matilda Frogs, a Churchill, an M24 Chaffee used on Bougainville, two M3A5 Grants, a working Centurion from Vietnam, two Australian Crusaders, the M3A1 Stuart mentioned above as well as a heap of artillery pieces and other displays. The Japanese tank previously displayed there has been at Treloar now for some time. I did not see the complete M3 Stuart from Buna, nor the M3 Stuart wreck - also recovered from Buna. So chances are these have already gone to another home."

M3A1 Stuart
Restored to running condition. This tank was sold for $40,000 and will be exported from Australia.

The Zero engine looked as if it had been in water for some time, but there were no other details. It sold for $3,000.
