The Empire State Aerosciences Museum (ESAM) is located at Schenectady County Airport in Glenville, NY. The museum is located in a hangar and building that were part of the General Electric (G. E.) Flight Test Center that tested jet engines after World War II. The museum is dedicated to interpreting aviation, particularly as related to New York State.
The exhibits are located in two buildings and an outdoor air park contains aircraft on display plus the Jansz Vander Veer Research Center/Library. Betweem 1995–2015, the museum's collection included B-26 Marauder 40-1501 on loand by David Tallichet / Yesterdays Air Force.
Akagi Model
A large scale model of Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi is displayed at the museum. This model was built in Japan and used in use in the Hollywood film Tora,
Tora, Tora (1970) to depict the carrier sunk during the Battle of Midway on June 5, 1942. Afterwards, purchased by Charles Wood, founder and owner of Great Escape who donated it to the museum.
