Beaufighters In The Pacific A History of the RAAF Beaufighter Squadrons in the South West Pacific Area I recently received a copy of Neville Parnell's "Beaufighters in the Pacific: A History of the RAAF Beaufighter Squadrons in the South West Pacific Area" (2005). It is a revised and expanded version of his classic, "Whispering Death: A History of the RAAF's Beaufighter Squadrons" which was originally published by the now defunct Reed Publishing in 1980. This edition has pictures of the beaufighters that were destroyed and damaged in the raid on Port Moresby of April 12, 1943. Parnell continued with his research since 1980 and collected additional material from veterans and historians and has updated and expanded his original manuscript. The result is a definitive manuscript with every detail one could ask for plus records on each individual aircraft. It contains about 250 photos plus maps. The final manuscript was considered too expensive to publish as a hardcover so Parnell is selling a limited number of hardbound copies for Beaufighter vets, family members and historians. This is a professional, authoritative publication on RAAF operations in the SW Pacific. Review by Edward Rogers Return to Book Reviews | Add a review or submit for review Last Updated |
