History Undercover
B-25 Down: Hunt For A Hero

Television documentary aired in mid 2003 in the United States on the History Channel. On January 18, 1943, Major William G. Benn and his crew crashed B-25C "Algernon" 41-12485 in the New Guinea jungle lost in bad weather and due to pilot error. They joined many other American aircraft lost on the mountainous, undeveloped island of New Guinea.

Fifty years later, a Philadelphia businessman named Alfred Hagen - Benn's grand-nephew--embarked on an epic quest to rediscover (originally discovered August 1956) his great uncle's plane wreck B-25C "Algernon" 41-12485. During his searches, he visited other plane wrecks including P-47D Thunderbolt 42-8059. Ultimately, he reloacates and visits the wreckage of Benn's aircraft.
