Plaque affixed to the flight deck of HMS Glory (R62) marking the surrender ceremony location
Photographed while at anchor off Melbourne, the plaque reads: "On this spot Lieutenant General V. A. H. Sturdee G.O.C. 1st Australian Army accepted the surrender of the Japanese South Eastern Army and Associated Naval Forces From General H. Imamura and Vice Admiral K. Kusaka off Rabaul 6-9-45".
