Wartime History
During the Pacific War, used by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as a tanker.

Sinking History
On February 16, 1944 Fujisan Maru was anchored in Truk Lagoon. During "Operation Hailstorm" bombed by SBD Dauntless dive bombers from USS Bunker Hill. A single 1,000 lb. bomb scored a hit on the vessel that triggered a large explosion and causing heavy damage. On February 17, 1944 bombed by SBD Dauntless from USS Enterprise and sank into Truk Lagoon.

Shipwreck
During the early 1970s, this shipwreck was located lying on its port side.
