Sinking History
On February 17, 1944 in the morning during "Operation Hailstone" attacked by U.S. Navy (USN) carrier aircraft from USS Bunker Hill and USS Monterey outside Truk Lagoon while off loading Japanese Army troops. It sunk immediately from the first of several torpedo hits, and a fuel fire spread across the surface. Burning wreckage drifted to Udot Island and started fires in a mangrove swamp an spread to some buildings.

Shipwreck
Rarely dived because it is over an hour away by boat from the lagoon and because aviation fuel still leaks form the wreck that can burn divers. A short barrel 4.7" gun used for anti-submarine defense on the stern.
