Michael Peters adds: "My father is the man on the left, George Lee Peters, wearing
the pith helmet. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, 25th Signal
Company. He was on Guadalcanal from November 1942 through July 1943,
and then again from October 1944 through August 1945. The man on the
right is a sergeant, believed to be named Striker."
