Sinking History
Japanese small ship sunk by air attack in Mawara Bay near the Kieta Peninsula north of Kieta Harbor and Kieta on eastern Bougainville.

Shipwreck
The shipwreck is upright on the seafloor at a depth of 120'. Also known as the "Big Wreck". This shipwreck was armed with a 5" gun and had a cargo of vehiles. This shipwreck is closer to shore and is stern-to-stern with Large Japanese Shipwreck in Mawara Bay.

Shirley Cook dove the wreck in 1975–1977:
"It was in very shallow water against a hill, and covered with coral. Lots of beautiful fish which is why I liked diving on it. It had lots of coral and fish everywhere. Could see sunlight shadows on the bridge."
