Sinking History The last supply vessel to reach Taroa Island. Surprised by US Navy aircraft during December 1943, it was sunk into Maloelap Lagoon to the west of Taroa Island. Shipwreck The Toreshima Maru can be reasched by swimming from Taroa Island and is a dive site. The king posts are visible above water. During landing or takeoff (depending on the wind direction) aircraft landing at Taroa Airfield (Maloelap Airport) overflies the shipwreck.
