Wartime History On July 20, 1943 Yubae Maru departs Palau as part of "Hansa No. 5" arrives at Hansa Bay. The convoy also includes Hankow Maru, Denmark Maru, Nagano Maru, Aden Maru and Shinto Maru No. 1 escorted by Shirataka and subchaser CH-34. On July 25, 1943 arrives Hansa Bay at 1:25am. Afterwards, departs back to Palau. Sinking History On February 17, 1944 during "Operation Hailstorm" attacked by U.S. Navy (USN) carrier aircraft from USS Bunker Hill. Hit by a 1,000 lb. bomb and aerial torpedo and sunk in Truk Lagoon. Shipwreck The shipwreck is laying on port side on the 120' bottom. Contribute
