Anti-aircraft fire at Japanese Type 1 Attack Bomber / G4M1 Betty bombers from 4th Kokutai make a low level torpedo attack against the U.S. invasion force in Iron Bottom Sound off Guadalcanal
At the center is a G4M1 Betty at low level with shell bursts from anti-aircraft fire aimed at the bombers. In the distance is a burning ship, likely USS George F. Elliott (AP-13) hit by damaged G4M1 Betty pilot Reserve Lt(jg) Sasaki that caused a fire and later sunk. Beyond the north coast of Guadalcanal.
