USS Franklin CV-13 view from island toward stern in the East River off New York
At the center is the U.S. flag and beyond is the stern twin 5" gun turrets and the after flight deck damaged by two aerial bombs on March 19, 1945 off Japan. Along the starboard side is a tug boat with another nearby. In the distance is the Brooklyn Bridge spanning the East River and beyond the Manhattan skyline.
