Satellite view of USS President Taylor shipwreck aground west of Canton Island
On February 14, 1942 at 6:20pm USS President Taylor accidentally ran aground and efforts to tow and salvage failed and the ship was abandoned. During 1954 the vessel was scrapped with most wreckage removed. The lower hull is visible below the surface with some wreckage visible above the surface. Credit: Google Earth Date: June 20, 2016
