Development
Used a Type 97 Chi-Ha chassis.The first were converted during June 1941. Designed as a tank destroyer.

Ho-Ni I armed with 75 mm Type 90 field gun
Ho-Ni II armed with 100 mm Type 91 howitzer
Ho-Ni III armed with a 75 mm Type 90 field gun, with improved armor in an enclosed gun turret.
