Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) No. 1 Squadron operated the PV-1 Ventura in the South Pacific (SoPAC) during World War II.

Wartime History
On October 10, 1944 lost is PV-1 Ventrua NZ4575 pilot Flying Officer Selwyn C. Houghton (MIA) on a ferry flight crashed into a jungle covered hillside on the "Weather Coast" of southern Guadalcanal.

On June 10, 1945 lost is PV-1 Ventura NZ4609 pilot Flying Officer Ernest R. Lloyd (MIA) on a search mission shot down by anti-aircraft fire and crashed near Rabaulut village and Pau village on New Irleand.
