Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) No. 3 Squadron operated the PV-1 Ventura in the South Pacific (SoPAC) during World War II.

Wartime History
On Septmeber 9, 1944 lost is PV-1 Ventura NZ4522 pilot FtLt Frederick N. R. Thomas (survived) on a mission over Rabaul and was hit by anti-aircraft fire and force landed at Talasea Airfield.
