Background
On November 1, 1942 the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) redesignated air groups with three digit identifiers. The Genzan Kōkūtai (Genzan Air Group) bomber chutai was redesignated 755 Kōkūtai (755 Air Group).

During 1943, 755 Ku Nells operated from Tarawa Airfield and two were abandoned in the boneyard area. On November 21, 1943 the wreckage was captured by U.S. Marines including G3M2 Nell Tail Y1-3??.
